Percy Parker’s Flying Bathtub – Ancient History and Invaders

This is a fabulous resource that has helped to bring learning about history to life. The songs are energetic and the children have enjoyed singing them with enthusiasm.
This term my Year 6 class have been learning about the Ancient Greeks and Percy Parker has helped them to learn a great deal about the Olympic Games through song.
They have enjoyed rehearsing and performing the Olympic Games song and can all present facts about the Ancient Greek Olympics as a result.

The resource has huge potential as an end of year production or it could be used, like I have used it, to dip in and out of as you study different periods of history throughout the school.
My class have also enjoyed learning ‘The Last Day of School’ song which they have written their own lyrics to and are planning to perform at their leaving assembly before moving on to high school.

The resource itself has everything you need – performance tracks and backing tracks, song sheets, backgrounds, choreography – to put on a great performance.

The potential for learning through singing is I feel under-exploited by teachers and resources of this high calibre can only help to promote this highly enjoyable and successful means for children to learn.
If you only buy one history resource this year I would recommend Percy Parker’s Flying Bathtub!
